Skoda Kamiq sales have started in our Russian neighbors – you can go and buy it

Skoda has announced the start of sales of compact crossovers Kamiq in Kazakhstan. car is only available in one version, at least for now. The model is already available from official dealers.

The price is also known, and local drivers do not like it. They want almost 13 million tenge (2,524 million rubles) for the compact crossover. However, only the Czechs are unhappy. There is an opinion that Russian drivers would actively buy the car.

And now it is possible. After all, no one forbids you to go to Kazakhstan for a car. Of course, you will have to spend money on the road, include customs duties in the budget, but what an adventure it will be! And those who prefer to stay at home can order a car through intermediaries.

Under the hood of the Skoda Kamiq there is only one uncontested engine. And this is not the same power unit that was before the 2023 restyling. The old naturally aspirated 1,6-liter engine was abandoned. Now under the hood of the crossover there are engines with volumes of 1,0 or 1,5 liters.

In Kazakhstan, they chose the middle option. The power unit under the hood is turbocharged, but only 1,0 liters for 115 hp. It is good that at least this is not a 95-horsepower engine with the same volume.

The gearbox is also the only option. It is a seven-speed "robot". But in EU countries, a manual transmission is also offered with this engine. Although, it is possible that soon there will be more Skoda Kamiq modifications for Kazakhstan.

As for the drive, it is only front. And even the "top" versions with 1,5 liter engines with 150 hp do not have 4x4 options.

It seems that Skoda has decided to launch a "trial balloon" by opening sales of the Kamiq with simpler and cheaper modifications. After all, if crossovers are not going to be bought, then there is no point in importing large quantities in different versions.

Dealers don't even hope that drivers from Kazakhstan will start buying up the new model en masse. But they have plans for Russia, and serious ones at that.

Skoda Kamiq is built on the upgraded MQB-A0 platform. In our country, it is better known for the latest generation of Volkswagen Polo. Only the "trolley" was shortened a little.

The lack of all-wheel drive is rather commonplace for a class of compact crossovers such as the Skoda Kamiq. Most competitors do not have it either. But the Czech model has a ground clearance of 190 mm and a flat bottom. This gives hope of getting to even the most remote farmstead on the road in good weather.
