Honda Shows Two Cutting-Edge Electric Cars at CES 2025

At the annual CES 2025 exhibition in Las Vegas, the Japanese corporation Honda presented prototypes of two electric vehicles new wave – 0 SUV and 0 Saloon. These models became the debutants of the long-awaited “zero series” line, which marks the beginning of a new era in the field of electric Transport.

The Honda 0 SUV is a 5-seater crossover, the design of which is inspired by retro sports cars of the 1970s. In turn, the 0 Saloon is a futuristic sedan with a wedge-shaped body without traditional door handles and a rear window. Its unusual silhouette resembles a combination of a supercar and a minivan.

Both electric cars are equipped with a wide digital panel across the entire width of the dashboard, consisting of five screens. Instead of a classic steering wheel, a steering wheel is used, and physical buttons are completely absent - in this regard, absolute minimalism was achieved.

The electronics in both models are powered by the new Asimo OS operating system, named after the famous Honda robot, which supports AI functions with self-learning capabilities.

One of the key features of the models is the SAE Level 3 autopilot, which allows drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel while driving without any risks.

Mass production of the Honda 0 SUV and Honda 0 Saloon is scheduled for 2026 and will be carried out at the company's EV Hub plant in Ohio, USA.

The platform and electronics are being developed in partnership with Renesas Electronics Corporation and Helm.ai. The high-voltage batteries will be supplied by a joint venture between Honda and LG Energy Solution.

It is not yet known whether the original design will be preserved by the start of serial production. Photo: youtube.com

At CES 2025, it was also announced that Honda's 0 Series lineup will consist of seven models, with a more affordable crossover to join the lineup in 2026 and a three-row SUV to join the lineup in 2027.

The Honda 0 series is aimed at the North American, European and Japanese markets, with separate models developed for China in collaboration with Dongfeng and GAC. In the future, Honda EVs will receive compatible charging ports, making them compatible with Tesla's infrastructure.
