
BelGee EX50 will be truly Belarusian – it has its own motor, battery and inverter
The BelGee company, whose facilities assemble cars Geely and BELGEE have prepared real Belarusian cars. Five EX50 models have already been released, equipped with locally produced engines, inverters and batteries.
They promise that the car will soon go into production. However, no specific dates are given, nor is the price. But it will be a 100% electric model – BelGee EX50.
Externally, the car copies the Geely Coolray. But it will not have any internal combustion engines, even in a serial hybrid version. The manufacturer decided that it was necessary to start with the most modern technologies. Firstly, it is simpler - there will be no need to remake and update the workshops later. Secondly, it is easier for local enterprises to adapt.

It is already known that the capacity of BelGee EX50 will be 160 hp. These are the electric motors that the MogilevLiftMash plant is ready to supply. The Belarusian Izmeritel has started producing inverters.
As for the running batteries, it is more complicated. There is no possibility to assemble them in full cycle in Belarus yet. The cells will be delivered from China – all necessary contracts have already been signed. They plan to assemble them into a single element on site and test them.
Let us recall that Belarus has long planned to produce its own electric cars. Specifically, to produce, not just assemble. The first prototype car was made by engineers from the United Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2017. Geely was chosen as the platform.
The prototype was not very successful, because its battery was in the trunk. This layout was easier to implement, but it disrupted the overall weight distribution. But it showed where to go.
Now the institute has several electric cars of its own assembly. Among them is not only a crossover - there is a roadster, a minivan and even a frame-panel plastic car.

As for BelGee EX50, the manufacturer, the BELGEE plant, specifically bought all the rights and documentation for this model from the Chinese side. This is necessary to make changes to the design of the vehicle without claims from the copyright holder.
To bring the car to a pre-production condition, serious modifications were needed. Fortunately, Geely has enough of such models and its specialists helped. The running battery was eventually placed traditionally - under the bottom.
The manufacturer is confident that an electric car with the main units of Belarusian manufacture will be cheaper than Chinese assembly. This means that it will be popular not only in the local market, but also in Russia.
