Production of Lada Largus competitor to be launched in Kaluga

The Avtomobilnye Tekhnologii plant in Kaluga, known for assembling cars from Citroen and Haval, is preparing to resume production of the popular cargo-passenger vehicle car Peugeot Partner (B9 generation).

The model was already produced at this plant in November 2020, when the car was offered in two body styles: L1 (length 4380 mm) and L2 (4628 mm). Buyers could choose between a 1.6 VTi petrol engine with 115 hp and a 1.6 HDi diesel engine with 90 hp. Both with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The peculiarity of the new stage will be that the plant has already mastered the welding process, and the launch of the paint shop is expected in the very near future. This will allow the enterprise to provide a full cycle, including painting and assembly of cars.

Modern production technologies at the plant in Kaluga, including robotic lines and the use of high-quality materials, promise a high level of assembly.

The cargo-passenger Peugeot Partner is positioned as a competitor to the Lada Largus, which occupies a significant share in the station wagon segment on the Russian market. The "Partner" with its practical design and variety of bodies promises to become a popular alternative.

The main advantages of the Peugeot Partner B9 are its versatility and utility. With two body lengths and the ability to equip it with different engines, it is suitable for both commercial and personal use.

The resumption of production of Peugeot Partner cars in Kaluga could become an important event for the domestic auto industry, including significantly strengthening the still shaky positions of local manufacturers against the backdrop of external sanctions.

This step also highlights the importance of localizing automobile production in Russia, especially in the current geopolitical context. The launch of Peugeot Partner production will strengthen Kaluga's position as one of the key centers of the automobile industry in the country, as well as provide additional jobs and contribute to the development of the region's economy.

The first sales of the updated Peugeot Partner are expected in 2025, and the company "Automobile Technologies" will be responsible for their implementation. There is no exact data yet on whether the car will be supplied in the form of assembly kits exclusively from abroad or whether some models will come from the Kaluga plant.
