BMW has learned to make new batteries from old electric car batteries
BMW is preparing an innovation that is vying to be the main event of the year. This is the process of recycling running batteries for electric cars. This technology will allow achieving a closed production cycle without harming the environment.
All materials from used batteries will be separated from each other, after which they can be reused. At the same time, it is stated that the process occurs without significant harm to the environment. This is important for EU countries, especially since the manufacturer hopes for tax deductions due to the introduction of new innovative technology.
The process has already been called unique. Thanks to it, the German brand will become a leader in the field of closed-loop recycling. After all, it is no secret that electric car manufacturers are now very concerned about the future of the industry. Precious metals such as lithium and cobalt are becoming more expensive every year. And cars More and more are being produced without internal combustion engines.

The new technology for recycling BMW running batteries will help, first of all, to make electric cars cheaper for the end buyer. The technology itself operates on the principle of direct recycling. BMW engineers said that the new method eliminates complex operations, since the latter are energy-consuming.
With the help of innovative technology, emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere are reduced. For the German brand, the introduction of recycling will help to minimize dependence on supplies of expensive raw materials from abroad. And energy saving plays an important role. Especially after the introduction of anti-Russian economic sanctions in 2022, when cheap energy resources became unavailable to EU countries.
The BMW press service has already told about the features of the technology. Naturally, without going into details, because it is a commercial secret.

First, used batteries for electric cars need to be collected, that is, a large batch needs to be accumulated. Then they will undergo a process of complete discharge. The latter is necessary in order to avoid electric shocks and uncontrolled chemical reactions.
The next stage is the separation of the electrodes. This is necessary to extract the materials. All that remains is to restore them, after which they can be used to produce new running batteries.
The technology will be implemented at the German plant in Kirchroth. Construction of the new workshop will begin in 2025. It is already known that BMW will allocate more than 10 million euros (about a billion rubles) for this.
