"When we are united, we are invincible" - this is how Nissan, Honda and Mitsubishi decided to save themselves from the crisis

At first these were rumors, but now, following them, an official statement about the partnership has followed. It was voiced by representatives of Honda and Nissan. The latter, by the way, owns 24% of Mitsubishi shares, and had previously expressed its intention to include it in the new enterprise.

Thus, the prospect of the emergence of the third largest automobile giant on the world stage, which will be on a par with Volkswagen and Toyota, is emerging. This is how they expect to avoid the negative consequences of the tough competition that has developed in the global automobile market.

Honda and Nissan have been getting closer since March. They are closely cooperating in the field of innovative technologies, including in the field of unmanned vehicles. In the future, the joint use of production capacities and the purchase of components will significantly reduce costs and, accordingly, reduce the cost of the final product.

However, the release of new models can apparently only be expected after the final merger of the companies. This is expected to happen in the summer of 2026.

By the way, at the moment in the US Honda and Nissan are not far behind such popular manufacturers as BYD and Tesla in terms of sales. But in the world's largest market - China, their business is not going so well. For example, only one Nissan model entered the top 10 best-selling models in China, and not a single Honda. At the same time, seven out of ten positions on the list belong to the same Tesla and BYD.

And the reason for all this is that the range of electric cars of the "luminaries" leaves much to be desired. After all, their sales volume on the world market, according to forecasts, will amount to about 40% in the next five years. This is what they are going to focus on. And whether they will be able to solve this problem with joint efforts, we can only guess for now.

At the same time, Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida is very optimistic. He expresses confidence that their merger will allow them to introduce new interesting solutions to the market, which would be difficult to achieve separately in such tough competition. We will eagerly await innovative new products.
