The UAZ SGR body has been completely redesigned – farewell to one of the main problems of the “Bukhanka”
The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant made an important statement – the UAZ SGR body will soon lose its main problem. We are talking about poor quality assembly, which depends primarily not on the professionalism of the employees, but on the equipment.
And the latter has just been updated – the stamped tooling for body panels has undergone a large-scale modernization. Why wasn’t this done earlier? The fact is that the manufacturer has been thinking for decades about what to do with the “Bukhanka”.
On the one hand, this off-road car has long been outdated. If earlier it could be called universal, now it is a specific machine, even highly specialized.

It would seem that it is high time to replace the UAZ SGR with something more advanced. But the release of the new generation of "Bukhanka" is a cash injection. And off-road vans are already being bought. And it is not that they are ideal, quite the opposite. There are simply no alternatives in this price category.
Therefore, instead of improving the quality of the body assembly, it worsened. And this process could not be stopped, unless by switching to manual fitting. And this increases the cost of the UAZ SGR.
And the quality of assembly was deteriorating due to wear of the body stamps. And they did not order new ones in the hope that the next generation of the "Bukhanka" would soon appear.
And so it happened - 90 percent of the stamps were replaced with new ones, and 10% were repaired without any loss of quality. We should thank the manufacturer's subsidiary - UAZ-Techinstrument - for this.
Now the specialists of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant are confident that all body panels for the UAZ SGR will have an ideal fit. Accordingly, uneven joints, cracks and gaps will become a thing of the past.

In addition, they promise that UAZ SGR will soon be sent for certification. Some of the deputies have already proposed to deprive the car of its car status and issue it with "tractor" documents. This will definitely not happen, the press service of the Ulyanovsk plant assured. Moreover, the new OTTS will specify that the car is equipped with an engine of Euro-5 class, no less.
Unfortunately, updating the body stamps is unlikely to solve two more serious problems of the UAZ SGR. The first is the quality of the metal and its anti-corrosion treatment. After all, rust spots on new cars are almost the norm for the UAZ SGR.
The second nuance is the quality of the welds. It leaves much to be desired in the "Bukhanka". And since the manufacturer has not spoken out on this matter, it is unlikely that anything will change.
