KAZ 4540 Colchis - a unique truck for agriculture

Experienced drivers who worked on trucks back in the Soviet era remember things like this cars, like the KAZ Kolkhida. Even for the USSR they were unusual - cabover, with a spacious cabin.

But the execution let us down - the construction of an automobile plant in Georgia was not the best idea. Local residents are hereditary agrarians and there could not be any working dynasties, as in other Soviet republics.

As a result, the assembly of successful and modern KAZ trucks was carried out very poorly. Drivers coming to Georgia from all corners of the USSR were well aware of these nuances and prepared thoroughly before the long journey back to their home base. Often they spent a week tightening the nuts of brand new trucks.

Today, the author of the channel "Ivan Zenkevich PRO cars" will tell you about the all-wheel drive Colchis - KAZ-4540. The truck was made specifically for use in agriculture, although externally and structurally it is very similar to another Soviet legend - the GAZ-66.

The cabin of the KAZ-4540 is really spacious - it is specially moved forward, and does not hang over the front axle. The creators took into account the disadvantages of the GAZ-66 design.
