How China Builds Bridges by Air
China is a unique country, where not only the economy is growing at a tremendous pace, but construction is also keeping up. Including road construction. In the PRC, like ours, there are many rivers, mountains, valleys and depressions. Therefore, bridges have to be built quite often. But look how it is done in the Celestial Empire: a lot of special equipment is used, most of which many of us have never seen and are unlikely to ever see.
Here they are building another bridge: under a huge beam, which is already on supports, there are powerful jacks. How, I wonder, did they drag everything here? But the workers are still standing and waiting for a special vehicle. Finally, it appears. What kind of monster is this on forty twin wheels? Eighty tires – now that’s some technology! It’s not even clear yet how it will all work and where it’s going.
The giant is getting closer and closer to the very edge of the bridge, under which there is an abyss. There are already about three meters left. The machine lowers some metal beam down and moves on. But what does it do? The front wheels end up in the air. Half of the paver is already hanging over the abyss! However, it does not fall, because its second part is heavier and therefore outweighs. Gradually, the equipment moves to the next support. What is the point of such an action? Watch the video and find out!
