Don-1200 - a rare Soviet-era combine

If the Niva combine is well known to almost everyone, and is associated with grain harvesting in the USSR, then the Don-1200 was rare. It was he who was called upon to replace Niva in the 90s of the 20th century and become the most massive model.

It was developed on the basis of the Don-1500, but with a number of differences. The width of the threshing drum was 1184 mm, there were 4 straw walkers instead of five, their length was the same - 4100 mm. A four-cylinder turbocharged engine SMD-23 or SMD-24 was installed. The gross weight was 11,5 tons.

Automation and electro-hydraulic systems were advanced for their time, and air conditioning provided comfort. True, in many combines it did not work. According to the reviews of those who drove this model, it was a reliable and easy-to-use technique with a performance much higher than that of the Niva.

The LandTech channel talks about the Don-1200, shows its work, including from the operator's cab, to see how everything really happens.
