Belarusian plant Brestmash to produce Chinese seven-seater minivans

The Belarusian plant "Brestmash" has declassified what passenger cars cars he plans to produce. It was not a presentation, the car was simply shown at an official event dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Brest region.

The head of the Ministry of Industry of Belarus presented documents and keys to a new car assembled at the Brestmash plant. He handed them over to the chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee. Naturally, the car is not intended for the official personally – it will be listed on the balance sheet of the enterprise.

Photos from the event are posted on the official Telegram channel of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Belarus. Of course, the new car is not fully visible on them, but this does not prevent us from understanding that it is FORTHING LINGZHI M5 from Dongfeng.

In the documents it is already registered as Belarusian, and the car is sold under the BMG brand. Apparently, the Brestmash plant took into account the experience of Geely, where they only recently began producing cars under a new brand – Belgee.

But despite the BMG name, the minivans will simply be assembled from Chinese kits. At least for now. Localization is probably planned for the future.

However, Dongfeng FORTHING LINGZHI M5 is not exactly a Chinese car either. It is a copy of the Japanese Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear. So you don’t have to worry about the “raw” design. It was “honed” by engineers from the Land of the Rising Sun, and the Chinese copied it. And not just like that, but under license.

It was not specified what kind of engine the car donated to the Brest Regional Executive Committee would have. But a little earlier the head of the administration said that together with Chinese partners, Brestmash would produce seven-seater minivans not only with internal combustion engines, but also their electric modifications.

The specific dates for the launch of the cars into production were not specified. They said that they would be tight. The production capacity of the enterprise is capable of increasing the circulation of Dongfeng FORTHING LINGZHI M5 to 10 thousand cars per year. Of course, this will depend on demand. BMG sees Russia as the main market for selling minivans.

A pilot batch of new Belarusian cars has already been assembled. The cars are currently undergoing certification tests. As soon as they are completed, the manufacturer is ready to launch conveyor assembly.

It is not yet known how much the Belarusian versions of Dongfeng FORTHING LINGZHI M5 will cost. This will be announced during the official presentation of the model.
Do you think BMG minivans will be bought in Russia?
