Russia to see new domestically developed trams

The Sinara company announced that serial production of new Russian trams will begin in 2026. These will be models of its own design – modern, comfortable and safe.

In 2025, the manufacturer will show prototype trams. After the demonstration, they will immediately be sent for testing. First, in-plant tests, then standard tests – in real conditions. All documents necessary for serial production, including certification, will be ready by the end of 2025.

The cabin of the new tram model was already shown in the summer. It looks, it should be noted, modern, even futuristic. So we can say with confidence that in terms of design, Russian trams "Sinara" will not be inferior to foreign analogues. Perhaps, they will even surpass them.

2025 will be a busy year for the manufacturer. In addition to the pilot batch of new trams, there are plans to begin preparations for serial production of the model. The conveyor line will be located in Yekaterinburg. There they plan to organize such operations as assembly, adjustment and fine-tuning.

It is necessary to recruit personnel for production. Understanding that it is unlikely that it will be possible to find so many specialists, Sinara is ready to train them for free. So new jobs will appear in Yekaterinburg.

There are already agreements for the delivery of 30 trams. Rostov-on-Don will receive 20 of them, and 10 will be sent to Krasnodar. In parallel, negotiations are underway with transport workers from other Russian regions. In general, there are prospects, and broad ones.

The fate of the new trams of the Sinara group is difficult, but it illustrates the desire of domestic manufacturers of vehicles for independent development. Initially, in 2019, it was planned to produce metro trains, trams, trolleybuses and electric buses in tandem with one of the world leaders in this industry - Skoda Transportation.

A joint venture with equal shares of participation and management was created - 50/50. It was planned to invest up to two billion rubles in the development of production by 2022. After the introduction of anti-Russian economic sanctions, Skoda Transportation withdrew from the joint venture.

But Sinara did not give up, and it is impossible to abandon promising developments in which so much effort, time and money were invested. Therefore, the manufacturer decided to develop equipment of its own design.

All that remains is to wait for the arrival of a pilot batch of new Sinara trams.
