Sports ZIS for Stalin

The most odious Soviet leader, Joseph Stalin, is still remembered throughout the world. And not only as the one who defeated fascism and put half the country in camps. His figure in a strict military jacket always inspired the Soviet people with a classic example of asceticism. But, was he really like that?

If we transfer our discussion to the automobile plane that we are accustomed to, then Stalin should have ridden, for example, in the cabin of a "one-and-a-half-ton truck". It's funny. Of course, the leader of a great country had a good fleet cars, among which were some very interesting specimens.

In those days, despite the advantage of foreign car brands, Soviet engineers tried their best to come up with something of their own. At least for the needs of the leader and the Soviet elite. And they did well. One such example was the pre-war ZIS-Sport.

The elite car, which received the unofficial name "ZIS-101A-Sport", was created on the ZIS-101 chassis.
Young design engineers of the plant named after the leader designed a high-speed car, which was produced in a single copy.

The new Soviet sports car was approved in 1939 at the highest level - Stalin and Kaganovich. Unfortunately, it was lost without a trace during the war. But, the memory remained and an attempt made in 2012 to restore it according to the drawings. About this memory of the Soviet automobile industry, a 6-minute video was posted on the Automotive Russia channel. I invite you to enjoy watching together, plunging into the history of the domestic automotive industry.
Do you think our ZIS-Sport was no worse than foreign analogues?
