Russian aviation will be replenished with universal and multi-purpose airships

JSC "DKBA" officially announced the start of a new project. Within its framework, designers of the Design Bureau of Automatics and Bauman Moscow State Technical University will manufacture, test and launch into serial production aerostats. Not simple ones, but ones with a long flight duration.

With the help of such aircraft, it will be possible to open a new page in Russian aviation. Despite the apparent simplicity of the design and its primitiveness, aerostats have a future.

For example, they will be in demand in the tourism sector. And models with long flight duration will become analogs of cruise ships, only in the air.

The main "feature" of the balloons that specialists from JSC DKBA and Bauman Moscow State Technical University plan to develop and launch into series production is an automated pneumatic balancing system. If you look into the specifics of its operation, it turns out that it is responsible for the pressure in the balloons' ballonets. The shape of their body will be maintained regardless of the altitude, outside temperature, wind and precipitation. All this together will ensure a longer flight duration.

The management of JSC "DKBA" is confident that the project will be implemented. The fact is that the design bureau is unique, not only in Russia, but also in the world. With the help of the engineering and technical staff of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, it will be possible to establish a whole new branch in aeronautics.

Aerostats are airships in the future. Moreover, the latter can be produced for various purposes - from unmanned to cargo and tourist models. Unlike aircraft, aerostats are much cheaper to produce. And the difference there is not even tens, but hundreds of times.

The management of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University is also optimistic. The institute's specialists are confident that aerostats and airships should not be written off. And not everything old is bad. Modern materials and equipment will help build reliable and safe technology.

Even if we leave aside airships, there are uses for long-duration balloons. For example, they can be used for terrain monitoring, communications, orientation, special tasks, and meteorological observations.

By the way, the management of Bauman Moscow State Technical University created a project group working on aerostats in 2021. In a couple of years, they assembled and launched an airship, recognized as the largest in Russia.
