Diesel UAZ Profi sent for testing – the car will soon go into production

The Ulyanovsk plant has begun full-scale testing of a new modification of the cargo car UAZ Profi. The model finally received a decent power unit - a diesel with a volume of 2,0 liters.

This engine is paired with a new manual gearbox – a six-speed one. This hints that the car will not only be economical, but also fast. Of course, you need to understand that the latter is conditional, but on the highway truck will be able to move on par with passenger models. If, of course, they do not violate the speed limit too much.

There is only one nuance concerning the new engine and manual transmission. They are made in China. And even if their assembly is set up at Sollers facilities, nothing will change fundamentally.

For UAZ Profi, the diesel engine and 6-speed manual transmission have already been adjusted. The model can be sent into serial production, but before that it must undergo a test cycle. This is the only way to avoid problems in the future, such as recalls and returns. This is standard world practice.

It is already known when the new UAZ Profi will go on sale. This will happen in March 2025. How much such cars will cost is still unknown. But they said that closer to the end of the year, the Patriot model will receive a diesel engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. It will go on sale during the same period. They promised an improved paint job for the SUV, but there are no prices yet.

It is unknown what power the new diesel engine for UAZ Profi will have. But knowing that this power unit is from JAC, two options are possible – 130 or 139 hp. These are the engines that are installed on Atlant and Argo trucks from Sollers.

Most likely, in addition to the Profi and Patriot models, the Pickup will also get a diesel engine. But as for Hunter and SGR (Bukhanka), there is no information yet. But there would be a steady demand for the latter two vehicles in a diesel version. Especially since they are usually used in rural areas.

The management of the Ulyanovsk plant also hinted that the appearance of a new line of UAZ vehicles is not excluded. They say that they will be produced on a single platform, which will be provided by the partner JAC.

Let us recall that diesel engines have been installed on UAZ vehicles more or less en masse since 2008. At first, it was the Italian Iveco F1A, then the domestic ZMZ-514. But the latter was unfinished. During the transition to Euro-5, they decided to abandon it altogether so as not to invest money in modernization.
