Cargo modifications of Russian Il-76 aircraft have been given the green light
PJSC "Il" is preparing for serial production of the Il-76TD-90 and Il-76TD-90VD. A certificate for these modifications of aircraft was recently received. To achieve this, it was necessary to carry out global modernization.
Now all statements of PJSC "Il" are confirmed by documents - a certificate. This will allow the company to begin serial production aircraft. After all, a number of customers, both Russian and foreign, are interested in them.
Thanks to the improvements, the Il-76TD-90 is now ready for operation on all international routes. During the modernization process, it was possible not only to equip the aircraft with modern avionics, but also to reduce the crew to three people.

During certification, Il PJSC was able to confirm that the flight performance characteristics of the model had improved. This means that it is too early to write off the aircraft - it will still serve, especially since potential customers are interested in it.
The management of the Federal Air Transport Agency is confident that the Il-76TD-90 will be in demand abroad. The model has export potential, which is confirmed by regular requests from companies involved in air cargo transportation. Among them there are representatives not only from neighboring countries, but also from far abroad.
PJSC "Il" plans to continue to develop the Il-76 platform. Obtaining a certificate will allow you to expand the scope of work and calmly make changes and improvements. The family is going to be supplemented with models designed for different operating conditions and even performing specific tasks.
This means that the potential customer will be able to control the assembly of the aircraft. Thus, companies will get rid of unnecessary expenses that will arise in the process of “customizing” flying cars for themselves.
All that remains is to wait for dozens of new IL-76TD-90s to take to the skies. Photo: youtube.com
Airlines whose fleets are dominated by different Il models are most interested in the Il-76TD-90. They know that Russian aircraft of the Ilyushin family are distinguished by their reliability and low operating costs.
PJSC "Il" is actively negotiating, trying to create the largest possible portfolio of pre-orders. There are already applications for hundreds of IL-76TD-90s.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to quickly satisfy the appetites of customers. According to information from Il PJSC, aircraft deliveries will begin only in 2028. Will all clients want to wait that long? It’s unlikely, although many people don’t yet have a way out or alternatives.
