The production of MS-21 airliners was accelerated significantly

The Irkutsk Aviation Plant is increasing the production rate of MS-21 airliners. The company already has nine gliders. All of them are currently in work. The head of the plant spoke about this in TASS interview.


And that's not all the news. IAZ has already produced almost two dozen sets of parts for MS-21 airliners. There simply isn’t enough space and staff to assemble gliders at the enterprise.

By the way, the management of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant considers the issue of training and hiring specialists to be one of its priorities. Starting in 2022, the number of employees is growing.


For example, an enterprise has its own training center. About five thousand people pass through it every year. As for hiring new employees, their number increased by 2022 and 2023 in 800 and 500, respectively.

It turns out that almost everyone will be able to find a job at IAZ, and in the future, a highly paid one. Hardworking and conscientious employees will be sent to improve their skills or learn a new, more in-demand profession. It is even possible to receive a full-fledged specialized and higher education in areas provided by the enterprise.

Now the main goal of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant is to reach production capacity of three MS-21 airliners per month. This is precisely why modernization is being carried out. First of all, we tried to update all the basic workshops. This stage has already been completed thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Rostec.

IAZ can provide the planned production capacity, but there is another problem. It has not yet been possible to arrange 100% supply of import-substituted systems and components. Although in this matter we have already managed to move quite far.


The next stage of modernization is the construction of a new building. The covered area of ​​36 m000 will house not only stamping machines, but also mechanical assembly machines. All of them will be new, meeting all international standards.

The program for at least 2025 is the construction of at least 9 MS-21 airliners. Related enterprises are also modernizing their workshops. The future of MS-21 depends on their coordinated work. The aircraft plant in Irkutsk plans to produce 72 aircraft in 2029 and subsequent years.

The first 100% import-substituted airliner MS-21 will take off before the end of December. This will be aircraft 73057.
