Chinese sedan BYD 05 for 1,4 million rubles will compete with Hyundai Solaris and Volkswagen Polo

In the first quarter of 2022, Chinese manufacturer BYD Co Ltd promises to start sales of the new 05 sedan. This car will cost from 1,4 to 1,8 million rubles. It is unknown whether BYD 05 will appear in Russia - the manufacturer does not provide such clarifications yet.


The model is already being called a direct competitor to Hyundai Solaris and Volkswagen Polo. Outwardly, the Chinese novelty looks more modern and stylish than the "classmates". In appearance, the features of the Tesla Model 3 are unmistakably guessed, especially from the rear. Although it is impossible to call the Chinese sedan a copy and even a “based on” model - it has a number of original design solutions.

The radiator grille is frameless, it merges with the narrowed head optics into a single element and gives the BYD 05 an aggressive look. The design of the front end makes the car visually larger.



On the side, the model is devoid of any decorative elements, but the protruding wings and bottoms of the doors give BYD 05 massiveness.

The taillights are factory tinted, and the design continues to play with sporty and aggressive overtones. It can be seen immediately that the manufacturer has relied on a youth audience.

The interior of the car was created in the spirit of minimalism. Here again, the resemblance to the Tesla Model 3 is unmistakably guessed. The emphasis is on the large 15,6-inch touch screen of the infotainment complex, located in the center of the front panel. The instrument cluster is also fully digital.

The three-spoke steering wheel and red edging on the seats and air ducts allude to the sporty character of the model.

Under the hood of the BYD 05 is the DM-i hybrid powertrain. The Xiaoyun internal combustion engine has a displacement of 1,5 liters and develops 110 hp. With. This motor has a Thermal Brake Efficiency (BTE) of 43%!
