Kia EV9 Concept Unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show

The Korean company presented an electric SUV, which will be the largest in the line. Initially, the novelty was planned as a mid-size crossover, but subsequently the dimensions became larger to accommodate an additional row of seats.


As noted by the developers, this is not the final version. Many details may change, but the most successful solutions will be carried over to the production model. The design is made in a futuristic style - chopped lines, non-standard proportions and an abundance of LED elements.

dimensions car – 4,93 x 2,05 x 1,79 m, wheelbase 3100 mm. The appearance will most likely become more traditional, the corners will be smoothed, but the front part in the recognizable Kia style will remain unchanged. The original optics with futuristic lighting will also be used.



An interesting feature is the swing doors, which provide a comfortable fit for all passengers. While there is no data, they will leave this layout or still install the rack in the middle.

The interior of the concept will be changed, today the design is futuristic, the front seats can turn back, and the middle row folds down to fit at the table. The rectangular illuminated steering wheel will give way to the standard design.



The instrument panel seems to float in the air, which is reminiscent of the modules used in the latest BMW models. In it, electronic devices are arranged together with a multimedia touchscreen. As standard, the car will be equipped with a set of digital assistants to assist the driver and improve driving safety. The exact list is still unknown, but the engineers promise that the car will have the latest developments of the Korean automaker.



One electric motor is located in the rear. The 76 kW battery will provide a range of more than 480 km, the fast charging function will allow you to gain 80% of the capacity in less than an hour. Dynamic characteristics are currently unknown.

The date of the official debut was not named, tentatively the presentation will take place at the end of 2022. The start of production is scheduled for April 2023, Kia EV9 will be sold throughout Europe, including Russia. It is possible that the technical performance will be improved - it all depends on the test results and identified problems.
